Communion & Community
Remembering Christ, Belonging Together
Introduction
Communion and community are central to the Christian faith because they remind us that faith is not meant to be lived alone. Through communion, we remember the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Through community, we experience care, unity, and shared life with one another.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
— Acts 2:42
Together, communion and community invite people into a deeper relationship with God and with one another.
What Is Communion?
Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, is a sacred time of remembrance. Through bread and the cup, believers remember Jesus’ sacrifice and His love for humanity.
“Do this in remembrance of Me.”
— Luke 22:19
Communion represents:
Christ’s body given for us
Christ’s blood poured out for forgiveness
Gratitude for God’s grace
Renewal of faith and commitment
Communion is not about perfection—it is about remembering, trusting, and receiving grace.
What Is Community?
Community is about belonging. God created us for relationship—not only with Him, but with one another.
“So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”
— Romans 12:5
In Christian community, people:
Support one another in love
Share joys and burdens
Grow together in faith
Learn to live out compassion and forgiveness
Community reflects God’s heart for unity and care.
Why Communion and Community Belong Together?
Communion reminds us of what Jesus has done; community shows us how to live it out.
“Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:17
When people gather for communion, they are reminded that they are part of one body—connected by love, grace, and shared hope.
Communion & Community for Everyone
Communion and community are open to those who seek God with sincere hearts. Whether you are new to faith, returning after time away, or simply exploring, you are welcome.
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
— John 13:35
Community is a place of belonging, healing, and growth—not judgment.

— Hebrews 10:24
