How to Receive Salvation
A Sermon Message
Beloved brothers and sisters, today we come to one of the most important questions a human heart can ever ask: How can I be saved? This is not a question of religion, tradition, or good behavior—it is a question of eternal destiny.
The Bible makes it clear that salvation is God’s gift, freely offered through Jesus Christ. Let us hear what God’s Word teaches us about receiving this precious gift.
1. Acknowledge Our Need for Salvation
The journey to salvation begins with honesty before God. Scripture tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Sin is not only the wrong things we do; it is the condition of the human heart apart from God. Sin separates us from Him, and no amount of good works, church attendance, or charity can remove that separation.
Salvation begins when we humble ourselves and say, “Lord, I need You. I cannot save myself.”
2. Believe in the Finished Work of Jesus
God, in His great love, made a way where there was no way. He sent His Son, Jesus, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again in victory. The cross was not an accident—it was God’s divine plan for redemption.
To receive salvation, we must believe that Jesus died in our place and that His resurrection gives us new life. This is not head knowledge alone; it is heart trust—placing our full confidence in Him.
3. Repent and Turn to God
Salvation requires repentance. Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God. It is a change of heart that leads to a change of direction. We cannot hold on to sin and hold on to Christ at the same time.
God is not looking for perfection; He is looking for surrender. When we repent, God promises forgiveness and cleansing.
4. Confess Jesus as Lord
The Bible teaches that we must confess Jesus as Lord. This means declaring that He is not only Savior, but Master of our lives. Salvation is not simply accepting forgiveness—it is surrendering control.
When we confess Jesus as Lord, we say, “My life is no longer my own. I belong to You.”
5. Receive Salvation by Grace Through Faith
Salvation is a gift of grace. You cannot earn it. You do not deserve it. You simply receive it by faith. The moment you believe, repent, and trust in Christ, God saves you. Your sins are forgiven, your name is written in heaven, and you become a child of God.
This is not something you feel your way into—it is something you believe your way into, based on God’s unchanging promise.
6. Walk in New Life
Salvation is the beginning of a new life. When God saves us, He gives us a new heart and places His Spirit within us. From that day forward, we are called to walk with Him, grow in His Word, pray, and live in obedience.
We are not saved by good works, but we are saved for good works—to glorify God and be a light to the world.
Invitation and Prayer
Today, salvation is available. Not tomorrow. Not someday. Today. If your heart is stirred and you know you need Jesus, respond to Him now.
“Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sins and surrender my life to You. Forgive me, cleanse me, and be Lord of my life. I receive Your gift of salvation by faith. Amen.”
Closing Exhortation
Salvation is not about joining a religion—it is about entering a living relationship with God through Jesus Christ. If you have received this salvation, rejoice and live it boldly. If you have not, today is your day.
“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
May the Lord draw hearts to Himself and transform lives by His saving grace. Amen.
